Montego Bay: When the Photo Plan Goes Sideways

Not Every Photo Walk Finds Its Groove

Montego Bay turned out to be one of those travel days that doesn’t quite go according to plan. We hired a local guide hoping to find some great photographic spots, but after a few turns we realized we were well off the typical tourist path—and very much stood out as visitors.

It made for an experience that was more unnerving than inspiring, and the photography groove never really happened. Sometimes travel hands you those moments where you’re simply aware you’re far outside your comfort zone.

The highlight of the outing was stepping inside St. James Parish Church, which offered a quiet and beautiful contrast to the rest of the afternoon.

In the end, it was interesting to see a different side of Montego Bay, even if it’s probably not a route we’d choose again. Not every travel day produces great photos—but it always gives you a story.

Back on the Queen Elizebeth and headed to Belize City!!
